Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of empowerment on job satisfaction, task performance and turnover intention and to identify the relationship among them in hospital nurses.

Methods: The subjects were 256 nurses working for one university and three general hospital in J city. The data were analyzed by SPSS 11.5.

Results: The mean score of empowerment was 2.86, job satisfaction was 3.00, task performance was 3.29 and turnover intention was 3.01. The empowerment was positively correlated with job satisfaction(r=.63, p<.001) and task performance(r=.32, p<.001), but negatively correlated with turnover intention(r=-.17, p<.05). The significant predictive factors of job satisfaction and task performance were information and support in empowerment. And turnover intention was resources in empowerment.

Conclusion: These result suggest that empowerment improvement programs should be development to improve the quality of nursing.
